We Invite You To Visit Our New Location In Downtown Stuart
The Gilt Complex has moved … again.
In December an opportunity arose that we simply couldn’t pass up. A retail store location on Colorado Avenue in downtown Stuart became available.
It’s a site I had my eye on for over a year and had previously spoken with the owner about. At the time it wasn’t available, but I remained hopeful.
One day while passing by I saw a For Rent sign in the window. I reached for my phone, called the owner, and in three days we reached an agreement.
The location, at 608 Colorado Avenue, doubles our space. We were literally bursting at the seams in our former showroom, with what I lovingly described as the world’s smallest workshop. Now we are in 2,000 square feet and our workshop has tripled in size.
There’s room for our computerized mat cutter, a fancy new compressor-driven glass cutter (don’t ask – it’s a frame geek thing), and not one, not two, but three tables to assemble frames.
In the showroom we have 10-foot ceilings and two large tables where we can lay your art and design the perfect complimentary frame. And now we have plenty of storage space. No more piles on the floor!
We continue to carry one of the largest and most diverse frame collections on the Treasure Coast. And we recently added the capability to print your digital photos on aluminum, acrylic and canvas through our partnership with Larson-Juhl.
It’s a thrill to be a part of the vibrant downtown art and entertainment scene. We are about a quarter mile south of Confusion Corner, and across the street from 555 Place with its many restaurants and shops.
We invite you to stop by and visit us and experience all that we have to offer.
The Art of Finished Corner Frame Making
This past summer we had the good fortune to visit our friends at Quattro Frameworks in Long Island City, New York. These highly skilled artisans produce exquisite closed corner frames in a variety of styles. Their designs range from traditional American, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch to modern and contemporary styles.
The value of art restoration
Francis Kelly, the 20th century artist and conservator, noted that “every work of art starts out on the progressive path to destruction from the moment it is created…. When the object passes from the artist’s hands he can but pray it will be well looked after.”
And therein lies the challenge.
Welcome to The (newly updated) Gilt Complex
There have been a lot of changes at The Gilt Complex over the past several months.
Last fall Peter Crafts, the company’s founder, retired. That’s when Pam and I came aboard as the new owners. As you can probably imagine there’s been a whirlwind of activity since then.

“The quality of the work was unbelievable! It is amazing that over 100 years of dirt, dust and grime could be removed from the painting. The painting looks like it was just painted yesterday! The attention to detail in enhancing the frame and replacing the hardware was much appreciated! Thank you! Thank you!”
